About Healey Electric Service, Inc.

I started doing electrical work at around age 15 after school and summers with my dad as he was an electrical contractor also. I started Healey Electric Service, Inc. in 1986 at the age of 26 after attending college for a while and perusing other interests. At first I did primarily residential renovation type of work, service changes and the like. 

My goal was to move into commercial work which I gradually did over time. One of my first commercial accounts was for a company that owned about 100 small gas stations. I did all of their electrical maintenance. This led to working for a few contractors that built new and renovated old gas stations including all of the pump and dispenser wiring. I had environmental remediation contractors approach me to wire their systems, which were basically cleaning up the contaminated ground water at some of the gas stations. This was the biggest part of my business for many years. All the while I was doing this I would also wire the occasional house or renovation. 

The next big customer was Big Birch Ski Area in Patterson NY. I wired all of there new air compressors, water pumps, fan jets for snow making, new chair lift controller and many other things. Another big customer was a guy that built a new self storage building in Brewster NY called Storage Barn. He wound up building two of them complete with electric heat and d-humidification which I wired. I continued to do work for this person including other commercial buildings and his house on Quaker Hill NY. 

Along the way I started doing work for the Carmel School District which I still do today. I’ve done many projects for them, the new science wing at the middle school, all of the door entry systems, wireless access points all over the whole district, and all of their generators. 

About 7 years ago I became a Kohler generator dealer. This has become a big part of my business now. I sell, service and install generators from a small 10 kw home standby all the way up to a large 500 kw generator for a school or commercial building. In recent years I’ve hooked up with a few large HVAC contractors doing all of their wiring for boilers and AC wiring. It seems that this year we are doing more swimming pools than ever. I guess because of Covid-19 people are spending there vacation money at home.
